Well
folks, 2008 is rapidly headed for the barn so to speak
and I'm finally gettin' down to the detail work of puttin'
out my next CD. Yes, the next CD
is all recorded and
scheduled for a late Fall release!!! Stay tuned for more
info on that. I'm in the middle of writin' liner notes, CD
artwork and photo
shoots. All the stuff I could do without that just seems to get in the way
of writin' or playin' the next song. But hey, I signed up for it and I'll
git-er-done!!! The new CD is tentatively titled "Made To Last", which comes
from a song on there I've been singin' for years that I wrote with my friend
and great writer, Allen Shamblin. I hope everybody likes it, as is always
the case when you put something new out there. It's probably a little bit of
a bigger/tougher sound than my previous CDs, so don't let that catch you off
guard. I went for that and enlisted Dan Baird as producer and Ben Strano as
co-producer on this project. Dan was the lead singer and guitar player in
the band the Georgia Satellites, who had a huge hit with "Keep Your Hands To
Yourself". He produces a lot these days and just did another CD for my buddy
Chris Knight, who cut our song "Homesick Gypsy".
Also, the aforementioned Allen Shamblin and I have written a song called
"Who's Gonna Bail Out The Workin' Man" that we're pushin' to get out there
amid this financial crisis America finds itself in. It's kickin' up a lot of
dust in Nashville and we're hopin' to give a voice to the hard-workin' folks
that get up every morning and are makin' ends meet because nobody's gonna
bail THEM out!!! Sound familiar?
Anyway, hang in there folks 'cause as a great songwriter said a few years
back, "Everything's gonna be alright". And it actually is. We'll make it
through if we have to pull each other up and over!!! I want to say thank you
also for you guys continuing to support me and keepin' the wheels rollin' on
this train. I truly couldn't do it without you!!! I hope to see you real
soon down the road and look forward to shakin' your hand or huggin' your
neck, whichever you deem appropriate of course. Come see us when you can and
remember to stay close to Jesus and away from the Cops. (Or at least out of
the back seat of the patrol car). God bless you and adios for now amigos----
